Final Ideas

Stamp 1: Neymar
Initial idea	My initial idea for my first stamp was to get am image of Neymar and draw round him with a black line, so in other words draw the image and then get rid of the actual picture and then add the colour to my drawing on Neymar. Then in the background, behind Neymar am going to put an image of the Olympic rings. Then I am going to put an image of a Brazilian frog in the background as well.
Rational (why have you chosen this idea?)	I choose this idea as everyone who is from Brazil or knows about Brazil is going to know who Neymar is as he is a very young but very talented player who plays for one of the best football teams in the world (FC Barcelona). I am also putting the Olympic rings in the background as everyone is Brazil is getting ready for the Rio 2014 Olympics.
How does the idea relate to your investigations/development work?	My idea relate to my investigations as I have been looking into Brazilian animals and the idea of a frog in the background is showing that I have been looking into putting animals into my first stamp.
What effects do you want to incorporate into the stamp? – justify your decisions	I want this stamp to have Neymar stand out on it as he is going to be in the centre of the stamp and he is going to be the the biggest image on the stamp so he will stand out, and I may even make the other images around him dimmer coloured so Neymar stands out the most.
Resources that you will need for the stamp (e.g. images, scans, information)	I will need to get some sketches of the Olympic rings and scan them into the computer and then I will be able to draw round them on the internet when it comes to my mock exam. Also I need to get an image of Neymar off of the internet so I will also be able to draw round him and add the colours to him for this stamp.

 

Stamp 2:The Christ Redeemer.
Initial idea	My initial idea for this stamp is to get the Christ redeemer and draw the outline of it and then colour the top half of him in to make it look like he is wearing the Brazilian football flag then behind him make it look like there is sun rays coming from behind him.
Rational (why have you chosen this idea?)	I have chosen this idea because wear the Rio 2016 Olympics are happening the Christ redeemer is the make attraction of the place apart from the Olympics themselves, so everyone who is going to Brazil will probably be going up to see these main attraction.
How does the idea relate to your investigations/development work?	My idea relates to my work because I have been looking at doing the Christ redeemer for a while and I have finally found a good I idea to put the statue in.
What effects do you want to incorporate into the stamp? – justify your decisions	I want to add a couple of effects such as the fade tool in illustrator, to make the things behind the Christ redeemer not stand out as much as the statue itself.
Resources that you will need for the stamp (e.g. images, scans, information)	I will need to get a picture of the Christ redeemer off of the internet in order to be able to draw around the statue. I will also need a picture of the home Brazilian football kit so I can draw one onto the Christ redeemer.

Stamp 3: Pele.
Initial idea	For this stamp my idea is to get a picture of Pele when he was in mid-air doing the famous overhead kick that he scored for Brazil. Then I will be creating an outline of him and then I will be getting the Brazilian flag and drawing that inside the outline of Pele.
Rational (why have you chosen this idea?)	I have chosen this idea as everyone around the world who likes football like me will know about Pele and him famous overhead kick goal that he scored, and then I will have a Brazilian flag in the outline of him so if people don’t know who he is they will notice he is from Brazil.
How does the idea relate to your investigations/development work?	I have been looking into the history of Brazilian football and I have noticed that Pele stands out the most so everyone who knows about football knows about Pele.
What effects do you want to incorporate into the stamp? – justify your decisions	I want to use the outline effect on this stamp so I can draw an outline of Pele in the middle of this stamp, so I will be able to draw a Brazilian flag in the middle of him.
Resources that you will need for the stamp (e.g. images, scans, information)	I will need a picture of Pele doing the famous overhead kick to draw round for the outline and then I will need a picture of the Brazilian flag to go into the middle of the Pele outline.

lens flairs.

During todays lesson we have been looking at lens flairs, we have been looking at how effective they can be if we was to put them onto our final stamps. Lens flairs could be good in our final ideas as we can make them look like a sun with a sun ray coming off of it. The colour of the flair depends on the colour of the background.

Evaluation of Olmpic Stamps

What could the artist have done to improve the stamp?	The artist that has made this stamp could have tried to add more onto the image, he/she could have tried to make the back round a little more amusing.
What is included in the stamp?	In the stamp there is an Olympic weightlifter holding a bar with weights on in looking like he is straining to hold the weights.
Ideas that you could take from the stamp?	Some ideas that I have taken from this stamp are; I could try to get some images of the Olympians of brazil and I could try and add them to my final stamp ideas.
What are the main advantages of the stamp?	The main advantages of the stamp are; the way that the artist has made it look like the weightlifter is holding up the weights with no strain at all.
What are the main weaknesses about the stamp?	The main weaknesses of the image are; the artist hasn’t made the background of the image very amusing, he could have tried to add a little more the background of the image.

What could the artist have done to improve the stamp?	The artist couldn’t have really done much more the improve this image as this image is quite full up already.
What is included in the stamp?	In this stamp there is a picture of Mo Farah after he had just won the gold medal for the 10,000 meters final, and they have got a picture of him holding the GB flag.
Ideas that you could take from the stamp?	I could take the idea of taking the Brazilian flag and put some Brazilian famous people and put them in front of the Brazilian flag.
What are the main advantages of the stamp?	The main advantages of this stamp are shown that Mo Farah is proud to be British and he isn’t ashamed of it.
What are the main weaknesses about the stamp?	The isn’t any weaknesses for this image.

Evaluation of Pablo Jeffer Da Silva

What are the main strengths of the illustration? (Justify decisions)	The way the image blends together to create one single image.
What do you feel are the main weaknesses of the illustration?	The empty spaces in the corners of the image.
How effective are the effects that have been incorporated into the image? (Justify decisions)	The refection of the sun on the water adds more detail and helps catch the eye as the pink and blue contrast together.
What is the focal point of the illustration and are there any areas that you find particularly interesting?	The two women at the bottom left hand page catch the eyes well. Skin tone clashes against the brown. The ants on the women draw attention as the pure black breaks the light colour.
Does the image have any meaning or relationship to brazil? (Justify answer)	No, besides the image being created by a Brazilian illustrationist. I do not think the image represents brazil as nothing on the image reminds me personally of brazil itself.
What ideas would you like to develop further based on the image?	The idea of being trapped

What are the main strengths of the illustration? (Justify decisions)	The main strengths of this image are the use of colours to draw attention to the eyes. Also the use of colours like the way the blue mixes well with the other colours.
What do you feel are the main weaknesses of the illustration?	The main weaknesses the fish isn’t very clear he could have made the colour of the fish a completely different colour to the other colours in the picture so it all stood out.
How effective are the effects that have been incorporated into the image? (Justify decisions)	The effects the artist has used are very effective to catch the eye of a person walking past this image.  The use of contrasting colours draws attention to certain parts of the image.
What is the focal point of the illustration and are there any areas that you find particularly interesting?	The red, orange and yellow highlight the main focal point as they contrast against the main blue colouring.
Does the image have any meaning or relationship to brazil? (Justify answer)	The image has a relationship with brazils culture, the artist in this image is trying to show how beautiful the seas are in brazil. He has used the main colour of blue to show the usual colour of the Brazilian sea and then he has used the red, orange and yellow colours to show what the sea looks like as the sun usually starts to set. You know this image is about the sea because the artist has added the image of the fish to show that it is swimming in the sea.
What ideas would you like to develop further based on the image?	There aren’t any other ideas I would take from this image because I’m not looking to link my final images to the seas of brazil.

What are the main strengths of the illustration? (Justify decisions)	The main strengths of this of this image are; the way the artist has half-filled the face with blue and made it look like water5 and then having a fish swimming through the water.
What do you feel are the main weaknesses of the illustration?	The main weaknesses with the of the image are; the fact that the right hand side of the image is quite blank the artist could have tried to add a little more into the image, such as the sun or something.
How effective are the effects that have been incorporated into the image? (Justify decisions)	The artist has used warm colours the highlight the blue as blue is shown as a cold colour.
What is the focal point of the illustration and are there any areas that you find particularly interesting?	The focal point of this image is the fish that is swimming in the blue water as the fish stands out most from the rest of the image so this is a focal point of this image.
Does the image have any meaning or relationship to brazil? (Justify answer)	I believe that the image has some relationship with brazil. I believe that the image has a relationship with the Brazilian seas, as the artist has added the images of the fish swimming in the sea.
What ideas would you like to develop further based on the image?	I didn’t get any ideas on this image to help with my final ideas.

Background Research

Brazil football kit.

Brazil’s first ever football kit was coloured white with a blue collar. But because they lost in the Maracana world cup in 1950 the colours where criticised for lacking patriotism. So brazil asked the brazilin football association if they could make their kit the four colours of the flag which was yellow, green, blue and white and they was allowed to get a kit designed made out of the colours of the flag and they first wore their new coloured kit in march 1954 again a Chilean side.

Amazon rainforest

The rainforest likely formed during the Eocene era. It appeared following a global reduction of tropical temperatures when the Atlantic Ocean had widened sufficiently to provide a warm, moist climate to the Amazon basin. The rain forest has been in existence for at least 55 million years, and most of the region remained free of savannah-type biomes at least until the current ice age, when the climate was drier and savannah more widespread.

Brazilian carnival

The Brazilian Carnival is an annual festival held forty-six days before Easter. Carnival celebrations are believed to have roots in the pagan festival of Saturnalia, which, adapted to Christianity, became a farewell to bad things in a season of religious discipline to practice repentance and prepare for Christ's death and resurrection.

Religion

The Roman Catholic Church in Brazil is part of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope, curia in Rome, and the very influential Brazilian Conference of Bishops (Portuguese: Conferência National dos Bishops do Brazil - CNBB), composed by over four hundred primary and auxiliary bishops and archbishops. There are over 250 dioceses and other territorial jurisdictions in the country. The primate of Brazil is Dom Murilo Ramos Krieger.

Brazil football: PELE

Pelé arrived in Sweden side-lined by a knee injury but on his return from the treatment room, his colleagues closed ranks and insisted upon his selection.  His first match was against the USSR in the third match of the first round of the 1958 FIFA World Cup, where he gave the assist to Vavá's second goal. He was the youngest player of that tournament and at the time the youngest ever to play in the World Cup. He scored his first World Cup goal against Wales in quarterfinals, the only goal of the match, to help Brazil advance to semi-finals, while becoming the youngest ever World Cup goal scorer at 17 years and 239 days. Against France in the semi-final, Brazil was leading 2–1 at halftime, and then Pelé scored a hat-trick, becoming the youngest in World Cup history to do so.

Brazilian footballer: Neymar

Neymar started the 2013 Campeonato Paulista scoring twice in the first match, who ended a 3–1; win over São Bernardo on 19 January 2013. Four days later on 23 January 2013, Neymar scored again against Botafogo in a 3–0 win. On 3 February 2013, in the Paulista fixture against São Paulo, where Santos won 3–1, with Neymar scoring and making two assists. on 18 March 2013, Neymar told that he had a "dream of playing in Europe, for a big club like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea." But he went on to say: "There's no point in speculating when I'll leave Santos. I'll leave when I want to. “On 13 April 2013, Neymar inspired Santos to a 4–0 thumping of União Barbarense, scoring all four goals in the Campeonato Paulista clash. On 25 April 2013, his agent and father revealed that Neymar intended to leave for Europe before 2014 FIFA World Cup. Neymar played his last match for Santos in a goalless draw against Flamengo on 26 May 2013, and he was clearly moved. During the national anthem before the game at Brasília, Neymar struggled to keep his emotions in check with tears rolling down his face.

Brazilian religious food

There is not an exact single "national Brazilian cuisine", but there is an assortment of various regional traditions and typical dishes. This diversity is linked to the origins of the people inhabiting each region. For instance, the culinary in Bahia is heavily influenced by a mix of African, Indigenous and Portuguese cuisines. Chili (including chili sauces) and palm oil are very common. But in the Northern states, due to the abundance of forest and freshwater rivers, fish and cassava are staple foods. In the deep south like Rio Grande do Sul, the influence shifts more towards gaúcho traditions shared with its neighbours Argentina and Uruguay, with many meat based products, due to this region livestock based economy - the churrasco, a kind of barbecue, is a local tradition.
